Now that you have your website builder all set it up, it’s time to start building your website! In this video, we’ll quickly cover the basics of using your website builder and give you time to look over your specific website builder’s documentation. Hi! Welcome back. This is step 3 of our 5 step video series on how to make your own website. In the previous step, we learned a little bit about website builders – why they’re the best choice and how to set one up. And now, in this video, we’re going to learn how to use it and how to start building our website following the best practices. We’ve got a lot to cover in this step, so let’s get started!
Log back in to your website builder’s main dashboard. In our case, we’ll log back into Wix. You should see the new website you saved in the previous video. Remember, if you’re using a different website builder, your screen will differ – but the idea is the same. Click something like “edit site” to start.
We are now within the website builder’s editor. As you can probably guess, this is where we design, build, and edit our website.
Note: Every website builder does naturally differ with its own look and tools. Don’t worry if you’re not using Wix. You can still follow along – regardless of which website builder you’re using. The entire process and concepts I’m presenting to you in this guide can still be applied.
Learning how to use your website builder’s editor is one of the larger challenges. This is another example of why it’s so important to choose a good website builder. Fortunately, most website builders are fairly intuitive and do come with support and documentation. In our case, Wix already provides some great video tutorials to help familiarize their users with the editor and learn how to use it.
Since any good website builder comes with documentation on how to use it, there’s no point for me to cover this.
Instead, I’ll cover the best practices for building a website and guide you through the process so that you can use your own website builder to properly build your own website. But in order to do this, I need you need to pause this video and read your website builder’s documentation. You’ll need to learn how to use your specific website builder’s editor. So go ahead and pause this video. I’ll let you look over your website builder’s documentation and get familiar with the editor it uses. Then, come back when you’re ready.
Note: The more time you dedicate towards learning how to use your website builder’s editor, the better your website will turn out. I’d also recommend to just explore and play around with it for a day. Get familiar with your editor’s layout and its functionality. This is what you’re going to use to build your website so you need to be comfortable with it.
